[Business] Funky Chyck’n to be renamed Seitan Chyck’n after legal challenge

''More bizarre news from LoveSeitan HQ today. We have received a legal challenge to the name of our ‘Funky Chyck’n’ product, made completely of seitan.''

Apparently, it is too similar to ‘Funky Chicken’. Yes, you read that right. As such, the chicken wholesaler behind ’Funky Chicken’ has hired lawyers to ask us to stop using that name from now as it’s too similar to their registered trade mark. As a result, we are now changing the name of that product to ‘Seitan Chyck’n’.

Funnily enough, our ‘Funky Chyck’n’ product has been around for over 2 years and it has never caused anyone any confusion. But that doesn’t matter apparently, it has to change now.

Our Co-Founder, Steve Swindon, had this to say: “It’s a shame, but you have to respect the legal process. You would think that given our product is made from seitan and their product is made from animals there wouldn’t be any misunderstanding. This is just the latest attempt from the meat industry to stop plant-based and vegan brands from using any terms that sound too similar to animal products. This won’t stop us though – seitan will become more popular in the years to come!” Continue
